Research Focus

Broadly, I am interested in the perceptual processes that enable us to coordinate with others. For example, how we understand actions, or how social contexts might modulate our perception of our surroundings.

Most of my work is experimental, but I also use meta-analysis to test theoretical accounts of widely studied phenomena.

Current Projects

A meta-analysis of the joint Simon effect

in prep

The joint Simon effect is a cornerstone of joint action research. Our meta-analysis tests whether it truly reflects the representation of others' actions, or if it is best explained by non-social processes.

Overreporting bias in suspicion probes

in prep

Strangely, apparently suspicious participants often behave as if they were truly deceived. Our study examines whether this is due to them overreporting their suspicion in a post-hoc attempt to 'save face'.

Social modulation of moral decision-making

starting

How do social contexts affect moral decision-making? We are investigating whether and how the presence of others affects decisions in sacrificial dilemmas.
